POSTED OCT. 1, 2007: My name is Mallory. I have Marcus the Monarch, number 000461, I'm a junior high student in Ohio. Three of us are starting the kindness bug in our own school. We're experimenting with the kindness bug in a junior high perspective. Marcus the Monarch is very important to me because two years ago, both of my grandmothers passed away within a four month period. I remember that the same day that my father's mother passed away, my sister had a soccer game. At a random point in the game, a monarch butterfly came up to my sister and flew around her head a couple of times as she was playing and then flew up into the sky. Also, about three months ago, I was walking in a reserve when all of a sudden, a monarch came by me and rested on my shoulder. Now, every time I see a monarch butterfly, I always think of my grandmothers. My goal is to help those who have lost a loved one recently, or those who are still trying to recover from the loss, find a way to think of their loved one in a positive way rather than focusing on the sadness.

POSTED OCT. 1, 2007: My name is Morgan and I have Bobby the Army Ant, number 6-000252, I'm a Junior High Student in Ohio. Bobby is important to me because my father is currently in Iraq. This is his 2nd time going overseas. He will be over there for at least a year. My mom had a stroke 3 weeks after my brother was born. My mother and I dont really have any family to help us out. My goal with this project is to find kids like me who have a parent in Iraq, and help them get through this difficult time. I hope to also find people I can relate to, and who are able to understand what I am going through.

POSTED OCT. 1, 2007: I'm Clarity and have Leo the Lightning Bug, number 4-000214. I am also a Junior High student in Ohio as well. Leo, also my first time with the bug, to me, is important because this bug lets those underappreciated unique and wonderful individuals know that they ARE appreciated, even though they don't fit the Junior High "mold" so to speak, and that individuality is not something to be ashamed of. My goal for this bug is love and nuture those amazing students who are their own person but sometimes feel alone or unwanted.

1-03-08: 6-000161 - Bobby the Army Ant - Act of Kindness that was shown when the bug was received or given away – My mommy bought this bug for me so that I could learn about kindness and spread it around my pre-school (Jack & Jill Child Care Development Center in Belleville, IL). I have enjoyed my mommy reading me the Kindness Bug Book. It is really good. I am giving this bug & book to my teacher’s (Mrs. Jennifer & Mr. Shane) so that they can help teach all of my classmates and I about kindness. Then when someone in my class does something kind, they will get the bug and the book. Then when someone else in the class does something nice, the bug and book will be passed on to them & so forth. This is going to be so much fun. I can’t wait to see who all has received this bug and book that was given to me. Thanks…Holle Wagner
